Netball in Schools
Netball is a sport where girls can make friends and have fun whilst maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. A fast, skillful team game based on running, jumping, throwing and catching, it's the fastest growing female sport in England.
England Netball wants to get even more young people playing the game. It recognises that schools give many girls their first experience of netball and therefore aims to support teachers to deliver an experience that will keep students in the game for life. It does this by helping schools deliver quality curricular, extra-curricular and competitive netball opportunities for all pupils who love netball.
England Netball also aims to support the links between clubs, leagues and schools ensuring that pupils can continue their netball participation into a community setting. This season we have lots of new and developing umpires stepping onto the court, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have them giving it a go! 🙌
Umpiring isn’t easy. There are a LOT of decisions being made every game, often in a split second – and just like our players, our umpires are learning, developing and building confidence every time they take the court.
So this season, we’re asking our whole Strikers community – players, coaches, parents and supporters – to get behind them. 🖤🩷
👏 Encourage them
👏 Respect their decisions
👏 Be patient while they learn
👏 Let them do their job without comments from the sidelines
👏 And most importantly… thank them!
Many of our developing umpires are young players themselves who have been brave enough to pick up a whistle and have a go. We want them walking off the court feeling supported and wanting to come back next week.
We all love our netball, but without people willing to umpire, there simply is no game.
Let’s make Strikers a club where our umpires feel just as supported as our players.

With 3 million players annually, netball has the reach and responsibility to act. As a sport built by women, for women, it is working to remove the barriers that push girls out of the game.
England Netball Chief Executive Officer Fran Connolly said:
"We want netball to be somewhere that everyone can belong, flourish and soar and, as the sport continues to grow at all levels, there is no doubt that the question of kit is an important one. Mandating our inclusive kit guidance as policy is an important step in removing perceived barriers to participation and ensuring our sport is inclusive and open to all.
"Importantly, the policy does not ban the use of dresses, which remain a proud and recognisable part of our sport's history, but it does act to ensure that the dress is never the reason that someone feels they don't belong in the sport, removing kit policy as a potential barrier to participation in netball."

The impact and imprint you have all had over decades is a testament to the wonderful people that you all are. Years of selfless service to support and develop netballers of all levels and abilities and provide inclusive opportunities.'
